Prague: New Czech passports including fingerprints will start to be issued as of April, 2009 and not as of this May, as was planned originally, under a government bill postponing the date that the Chamber of Deputies passed today. The bill will now be debated by the Senate and then will be sent to the president for signature. Under the bill, Czechs will be able to travel to European Union countries with an ID that does not include machine-readable data. It also stipulates that passports with machine-readable data and biometric elements will also be issued for children under five. |
