In general one can say that nail conditions that show signs of infection or inflammation require medical assistance and
cannot be treated at a beauty parlor.
The list of nail features associated with infection diseases is very long, some examples are:
(1) Onychocryptosis, (2) Onycholysis, (3) Onychomadesis, (4) Onychomycosis, (5) Paronychia, and (6) Brown or copper nail beds.
Nail infection diseases are in a separate category from diseases of the skin.
Although nails are a skin appendage, they have their own signs and symptoms which may relate to other medical conditions.
